ELISABETH BURGER

Born in New Zealand in 1980,  I moved with my family to Tasmania not long after, where I live on a farm. I have completed my education up to year 12. After my studies I started travelling and saw some of Australia and over the years have lived in parts of Queensland - coming and going.

In 1999 my family and I went overseas to Thailand for several weeks and did volunteer work teaching English to the street people, then lived in Holland for 6 months and went to many museums and galleries, e.g. (Rijks Museum in Amsterdam) where I saw famous art works.  I also have visited the homes of well known artists, what amazing art work and history. I travelled through several countries in Europe. Travelling is a great experience, everyone should do it.

In 2003 I moved to Leongatha in Victoria where I lived for 2 years having exhibitions and selling my photography and art, some of which was commissioned work. In 2004 I moved back to Tasmania and continued life there.

I am mostly self taught, but have attended short classes of different kinds in Townsville & Holland - pottery, Gold Coast - water colour, Soft pastel, Arc Yinnar (Vic), drawing the nude figure.

While living in Leongatha I was a member of the local art group, and I  volunteered in the town gallery. I became well known in Victoria.

I work largely with a variety of subjects including animals, nudes, scenery, flowers and from my photos “a bit of everything”. My favourite medium is soft pastel.

Everywhere I go I enter into art shows, several times I have won prizes and  my work has received media coverage.
